Hello. I'm currently in day 9 of National Novel Writing Month. Which means I'm doing pretty much anything and everything not to have to sit down in front of my computer and work on word 12,778 of 50,000 of my novel. Including writing a blog post about it rather than doing it. So far today I've gone grocery shopping, watched a movie, made chili, called all my relatives, emailed friends I forgot I had it's been so long since I contacted them, paid bills and reorganized my jewelry box. I even helped my boyfriend fold his laundry.
If someone has a messy house and hates to clean, just tell them they have to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. I guarantee by day 9 that house will be spic and span.
I while back I wrote about cupcake mania. Apparently not that many people read that blog post because there are people still obsessed with cupcakes. For instance, Thanksgiving, as everyone knows, is a holiday about food. Pies, of course, but mostly savory food like turkey, gravy, potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, etc. But apparently Thanksgiving food has been taken to the extreme by the cupcake lovers and their incredibly creative cupcake-decorating powers. Now there is an entire segment of Thanksgiving dessert devoted to cupcakes made up to resemble turkeys. Not a cooked turkey, but a live one. So we can remember the birds who gave their lives so we could gobble up a vast meal and top it off with a sugary dessert, I guess.
Here is a picture of one such cupcake:

The 2008 election season has been going on for what seems like a decade. I will be so happy to wake up tomorrow with that phase behind us and a new era stretching out before our country.
Mahalo has some truly amazing election coverage. We have 2008 presidential election exit polls and election results pages for all 50 states. I'll be watching the outcomes in a few states closely.

I subscribe to Rob Brezney's Free Will Astrology newsletter and I suggest you do the same. I'm not a big believer in the stars, fates, or predicting the future, but I do like to have my universe expanded from time to time, and the unusual weekly astrological readings always make me think about life and my place in the world in a slightly different way. Try it! You'll like it!
Watch this cool short film shot at the Coronado Speed Festival last month. It really gives you the highlights of a fun day of vintage car racing.
Cats are cute. And they are much cuter in ads and in viral videos than in my apartment making my boyfriend sneeze. Here are some instances of cat cuteness you may or may not have already seen.

Finally, Swedish Fish have this funny ad campaign out about friends you can eat (Swedish Fish) vs. friends you can't eat (cats between two slices of bread). I don't like Swedish Fish particularly, but this is amusing.
Ok, this video from Martha Stewart's show is too bizarre. Babies dressed up as food! A baby in a pie, with a pie cutter so you can eat it! What?

First of all, I signed up to do NaNoWriMo this year. Exciting and scary. I think I'm quickly going to become an evangelist for it, so learn more (and sign up yourself) here.
If you haven't checked Mahalo out in a while we've got some pretty great coverage of a bunch of strange things, like Lego Batman video games, Oktoberfest recipes (that's coming up!), the baseball playoffs (go Dodgers) and fascinating young women like Lucy Pinder (NSFW).
I'm also working on a new personal blog, which will be here: http://www.lelahwithanh.com/ It is currently under construction as I tweak it to figure out exactly what I want to do with it. This blog has been a lot of fun, and as my very first blogging attempt, I'm proud of it, but I think it is time for something a little more sophisticated, that syndicates my web presence as a whole (ie: my flickr, twitter, delicious etc). So check back for updates on that.
Watch this funny and thoughtful "documentary" done by my friend Hari. It's been shown at a few important festivals, and now he's finally letting out on the Internet.
